Opening Reception: Dreamscapes

Friday, June 2 from 7:00-10:00 pm, South City Art Supply, 1926 Cherokee

Allison Sissom's "Dreamscapes" draw from charming, familiar material like children's books and nature magazines. But don’t mistake sweet for shallow! She painstakingly intertwines imposing natural spaces with intimate human moments. The effect is a moving contradiction between our powerlessness in the face of a vast universe and the certain meaning in a kind gesture. Allison has promised 50 pieces for this show, so we expect our 2nd floor to be thoroughly transformed! Don’t miss this opportunity to speak with the artist and dream along with her. We’ll have a dog or two, all the usual refreshments, and a few hours to relax into. Facebook Invite

In this time of adaptive change, the Joint Neighborhood Ministry (JNM) board has made the difficult decision to cease the operation of the Food Pantry, the Full Circle rep-payee program, and the Matthew 25 utility assistance program effective May 31, 2017. JNM has faithfully served the most vulnerable in the Benton Park Neighborhood for fifty years! That is cause for celebration, even with the need to let go of what is. Many of our brothers and sisters in Christ have participated in this effort, too many people to name or even count in those fifty years. How many of God’s Beloved Children have been helped and in how many different ways in that time? We may never know the complete impact of JNM’s ministry. Facebook Invite
