After the Party: Perennial Planting Party

Friday, May 6 Benton Park West received 80+ perennials and bushes from Gateway Greening for Our Neighborhood Garden at 2800 Wyoming. First, we'd like to thank Gateway Greening for continuing their partnership with Our Neighborhood Garden. We received many beautiful and unique plants for garden. Secondly, I'd like to thank all the volunteers for weeding beds, hauling plants to the garden, and planting, planting, planting!

Here are a few before and after pics.

Before: Our Neighborhood Garden sign was not very inviting with clutter and weeds around it.

After: Now with the clutter cleared away, you can see the newly planted flowers and Lamb's Ear.

After: You can actually approach the lady statue and see you bed of succulent plants!

Before​: Along the alley side, the Japanese Maple was surrounded in weeds and out of control ground cover.

After: Weeds removed, we uncovered Hostas and added several more.

Before: The main stretch was nothing you could walk through, more or less see the plants.

After: Now you can walk through the garden and see all the new bushes and summer perennials including Weigland, a lilac bush, cone flowers, garden Phlox, sedum/Stonecrop, black-eyed Susans, and Becky Shasta daiseies.

Feel like you missed out on all the fun? Don't worry! There's still lots you may do. We need to wee more before we mulch. Speaking of mulch, once our delivery arrives, we'll need help spreading it around the garden.
